Growing up, I always loved animals and felt drawn to them (at parties I often became distracted by any pets, hanging out quietly in the corner with the family dog or cat). Over the years, I have had the opportunity to pet-sit for friends and friends of friends. I have looked after and lived with cats, rabbits and fish. I have recently returned from a working holiday in the UK, where I had the opportunity to look after more cats and an African Grey parrot while house-sitting. During a stint providing care-giving services for an elderly client living on a remote island, I was also able to help out with the ducks, chickens and wonderful dog that lived with the family. I am a responsible and friendly individual, who is a good listener and observer. I also love spending time in nature, and enjoy various creative pursuits, including writing and illustration. I draw a great deal of inspiration from being outdoors and connecting to other living beings- from admiring a beautiful tree and listening to and identifying different birds, to interacting with a dog's boundless energy, or curling up with a cat and a good book. I suppose I am motivated to pursue pet-sitting, partly because of the energy and joy (and inspiration as mentioned above) that animals give me. My current living situation is not suited for having a pet of my own, so I suppose it's also a way of being close to animals and sharing in those sorts of interactions and relationships inspite of not having a pet. Additionally, I have a flexible schedule right now, which makes it easier to provide these services, and to take on this opportunity. I feel comfortable providing pet-sitting services to a wide range of animals. I don't have a car, but I am quite adept at getting around using public transit, within a reasonable distance from my house. I can show up at your home to take care of your beloved pet's needs, including dog walks, overnight stays, and housesitting in general. I am currently not able to take care of your pet at my home. I understand that providing pet care is a unique experience every time, depending on the needs and personality of each animal. I look forward to meeting you and your furry/feathered/scaly friend/s.
