I am an animal lover living with my fiance, James, our two cats, Milo & Ginny, and our two rabbits, Gus & Chester. As apartment-dwellers, we are unable to have a dog of our own, but I grew up with spaniels and I thoroughly enjoy spending time with dogs any chance I get!
I am able to provide daily home visits and care, and walking services. For home visits, I will happily spend a half-hour with your pet(s) indoors, feed them, and ensure the pet feels loved before heading out. I will take them out for potty breaks as needed whilst there. I am comfortable administering any medications needed.
During a home visit, I’ll spend time playing with the pets to keep them active and happy. For dogs, playing tug with a toy (if allowed by the owner), some time teaching basic commands, or just snuggles & attention, based on the dogs’ personality. With cats, I like to get them active with a string or feather toy, or catnip if allowed. With smaller animals such as bunnies, birds, and lizards, I find some time out of the cage and monitored in a room for some exercise and freedom (and pets!) does wonder.
I have a cat with anxiety and behavioural issues, and as such am very well-versed in dealing with pets with anxiety, trust issues, and separation fears. If your pet has any similar problems, I am used to being very quiet and cautious with them, providing food-based encouragement, and building confidence on their part. If any home visit requires extra care for skittish animals, I am very used to giving them some added TLC to make sure both your pet and you know that they are safe and cared for.
I try to stay active, and having an animal companion certainly helps with that! For walks, I will take your dog(s) for a half-hour walk in a location that you are comfortable with. I am able to take dogs to nearby dog parks, for walks around the neighbourhood, or even on hikes if requested. If toys are provided, I will take your dog to play fetch. I can also do some basic leash work in terms of trying to teach heeling & good manners when out. If the dog enjoys companionship or needs some socialization, I am also able to bring along my best friend’s dog Winston, the Bernese Mountain dog in my profile. Winston is extremely patient, submissive, and gentle with both big and small dogs. As such, he is an ideal companion for any dogs that may need socialization but are too nervous to go to a busy dog park.
I am centrally located downtown with my own transportation and able to get anywhere in Kamloops with ease. I hope to help busy pet-owners with daily requirements, while getting to spend time with animals myself.
Kieran was professional and kind. She was exactly on time, was concerned about my pet’s well being, took care of him and gave me feedback about how he was on their walk together. I would highly recommend her!
We recently moved to Kamloops and Pawshake was the first place to search for a pet sitter. Kiearn responded immediately and first introduction went great! One of our cats is afraid of new people and after just a few minutes he decided to trust her. She proved to take excellent care of our cats and our home and we're looking forward to call her again in the future. If you're searching for a good sitter she's the one! Thank you Kieran!
