Hi there!
I'm Mikaela, but you can call me Mika. I have always been an animal lover, especially dogs! I grew up with 2 mini dachshunds, and I'm not sure I have ever loved anything more. Growing up with dogs taught me responsibility from a young age. As soon as I was old enough I started house/dog sitting for friends and family. I have been pet/house sitting for almost 8 years. I have experience caring for a large variety of dog breeds, ages, and sizes, as well as multiple animals in the same household. I was a volunteer with the Edmonton Humane Society's Dog Program for 2 years which also gave me experience with a large variety of dog breeds, ages and behaviours.
When I petsit I ensure to keep your furry friend as well cared for as if they were my own, aka lots of pets and cuddles!
Why do I petsit? Because I love animals but I do not have the space yet to have my own! I firmly believe that no matter how badly I want to own a pet, if I do not have adequate space (or time) to properly care for them then I must wait. Petsitting allows me to get that time with animals that I currently don't have on my own!
My services include care for pets in the owners home, as such you are also getting a house sitter! You can trust me to keep both your animals and your home in the best care possible. I do general cleaning at houses I stay at including: vacuuming, dusting, full bathroom clean upon leaving, countertop wipedowns, mopping, and laundry of any used linens. I can also care for house plants as needed.
As for the pets, if you have dogs I will walk them as often as you would like (typically when I dogsit I walk them at least once a day but try for morning and night). I will take them outside first thing in the morning, and first thing when I return home if I am out. They will always have a full water dish and food will be administered according to their regular eating schedule. I am not a treat giver unless instructed to do so and I never give animals human food (again unless instructed to do so). I have experience administering medication to dogs (no injections though).

This was our first time having a pet sitter take care of our anxious older dog, and it couldn't have gone better! It was wonderful going on holidays knowing that our pup was being wonderfully cared for in our own home - thanks Mikaela! We will absolutely be bugging you to take care of Ruby in the future :)
Our girls fell in love with Mikaela the moment they met her, and loved having her with them for the weekend. Mikaela is timely in her reponses and made us feel at ease by arranging a meet & greet before accepting the job. She was diligent in checking with us while we were away to give us updates, and to ensure she is providing good care for the dogs. I highly recommend her as a pet sitter!
