Hi there!
My name is Virginia. I am 27 years of age, and animals have been my #1 love and passion since I was given my first family pet at age 3. (A kitten).
Much of my early childhood was spent growing up around farms (Riding horses) in the Ottawa Valley, and I was never without a pet of my own.
I learned very early on in life the joy of being an efficient and compassionate animal care provider. Since animals don’t have a voice of their own, they need to be listened to, understood, loved, protected, and treated with the utmost respect.
At 4, when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I told my teacher I wanted to be a cowgirl!
I knew working alongside animals was my calling in life, I just wasn’t quite aware of what I truly wanted to specialize in yet. That is, until I entered high school and I co-op’d at a shelter!
I knew then I wanted to look after ALL of them! I attended LAWS (Lanark Animal Welfare Society) as my high school co-op for 4 glorious years. That’s when I gained a lot of hands-on experience, caring for mostly domesticated animals. Although I was assigned to the felines, occasionally, I would assist in the dog kennel as well. After my high school graduation, I attended Durham College and graduated with honours in the Animal Care Certification Program in Oshawa Ontario. (See certificate in my profile photos) For my college placement, I was blessed to work at Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue. My job was to care for all the new babies that were brought in. They ranged from baby squirrels, owls, skunks, ducks, opossums, birds and the like. It was the most exciting and fulfilling animal care worker experience I had ever done.
When it comes to my furry friends, I am very gentle, patient, trustworthy, and ambitious. I want to make sure they get the best possible care and attention while their “mummy’s and daddy’s” are away. I am well versed in feeding and watering, litter changing, brushing, playing and snuggling, as well as administering oral medication or drops.
I know how nerve-wracking it can be to leave your furbabies behind for a length of time, as I am a furparent myself. I am currently a proud mama of a cat called Sibby, and a dwarf rabbit called Peter. My babies are my whole world, and I always hate leaving them whenever I need to, so I totally get it!
For transportation, I only travel by walking/biking/bussing, so preference is given to clients in Nepean and surrounding area. Any questions you have regarding my service, I’d be very happy to answer them. I look forward to hearing from you, and thank you for checking out my profile!
