Hello!
My name is Devon and am a huuuge animal lover. :D
I grew up on an acreage just outside Sherwood Park. We had horses, dogs, cats, gerbils, budgies, and even goats at one point. I absolutely loved it! I enjoy the peace and quiet of an acreage and the nature surrounding it. When I was a young teen I put a sign up in our subdivision for pet sitting and had a few wonderful clients I cared for. And that's when my Petsitting career started I guess.
I lived in Australia for nearly 5 years and that's where I started with Pawshake. I was able to switch everything over when I moved back home and its been so great to be able to meet so many wonderful furry personalities while I wait to eventually get my own pets again. :)
I have experience with all sorts of dogs of all ages including Great Danes, Collies, Labradors, Rottweillers, Golden Retreivers, Terriers (Fox, Wheaten, Jack Russell, etc) , Huskies, Schnauzers, Spaniels, Pointers, Pugs, Chihuahua's, Beagles, etc. I have even worked at a doggy daycare for a short time! (
It was a pleasure having Devon sit Max. Considering the fact that he had lost his step sister a few months prior, it was important that Max be babysat at home. As an anxious little boy, he was quite relaxed and enjoyed being cared by Devon which was evident when the house key was picked up/dropped off. Devon fed Max and administered his vitamins as requested. She kept us informed and even sent a video clip of Max, looking relaxed and content. We will definitely be booking Devon in the near future. Regards, Diane and Phil
This was our first time hiring a dog sitter and we felt very comfortable leaving our dogs for Devon go check in on. She sent us lots of pictures while we were away and was very responsive to any of my questions. Thanks so much!!
In Canada, I looked after people's pets and took care of any other house duties (such as watering plants, collecting mail, etc) for them while they were away. I have experience with all sorts of dogs, cats, fish, birds, and some rodents (gerbils, guinea pigs, etc) of all ages.
I've worked in a pet store which gave me more knowledge about a variety of pets. I've also worked at a doggy day-care for a short time that has allowed me to really get to know the quirks and personality traits of different breeds of dogs.
I have also fostered dogs through H.A.A.R.T (Homeless and Abused Animal Rescue Team) when I lived in Perth, Western Australia.
And I currently volunteer at WILDNorth, and the Alberta Society for Injured Birds of Prey, in Edmonton and Strathcona County respectively.
I have a Diploma in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation.
