ME:
Born and raised in Toronto. I enjoy an active lifestyle. I'm a professional engineer, working for green energy startup. While work can be demanding at times, I've stuck a good work-life
balance and have my weekends free to look after a 4 legged friend.
WHY I WANT TO BE A SITTER:
I love dogs. My family had a 50lbs standard poodle when I was growing up and he and I were thick as thieves. Since then, a number of my friends have gotten dogs and I
absolutely love the joy and happiness they bring. I take care of my friends' dogs whenever
able which has really made want to own a dog. I'll be moving to Vancouver for a masters
program in about a year and well, getting
a dog right before moving across the country to a
city where I don't know too many people and where I'll be without an income for a year doesn't seem like the smartest idea. Hence, I'd like to be a dog sitter, so I can take care of a dog without the commitment before going to Vancouver.
EXPERIENCE WITH DOG OWNERSHIP/CARE:
My family got a 50lbs standard poodle,
named Simcoe, when I was 7. From the ages of about 14-18 I was primarily the one walking and feeding Simcoe. In 2014 I lived with a roommate who had a 60lbs black lab, name Kai. Kai was quite old and needed a fair bit of attention, and while my roommate primarily cared for the dog, I would feed Kai and take him on walks when my roommate couldn't make it home. On a number of occasions, I've looked after friends dogs (20lbs, 30lbs, and 60lbs) for a weekend if they were out of town.
WHERE YOUR DOG WILL STAY:
I live in a downtown condo building. There are plenty of parks in the area, including St. James Park, Berczy Park, and Riverdale Park and the Don Valley park system for long walks; there is also a grassy area just outside my building's front door. The space decent for a condo, yet small compared to a house (900 square feet), however, there is a decent size patio and the main room is quite large and open. As an added bonus, my office is a 2-minute walk away, so getting home for a quick walk at lunchtime on a weekday is no problem.
SERVICES AND A DAY IN THE LIFE:
I provide dog sitting services, preferably
on weekends, but also open to some weekdays. One dog only, please, and medium to large size dogs only. Will like to mee both dog and owner beforehand. Can do this on a walk to park convenient
for both. A typical weekend day for a dog boarding with me would include a short morning walk,
likely some down time and then a long walk after lunch.
