My pictures of my home and yard all seem to feature dogs, which isn't surprising! We have a super dog friendly home. Any dog in my care would get the same freedom as my own. We have an upstairs, which includes the kitchen, living room and our 'dog room'. The basement features anothering living room and our bedroom.
My name is Kathleen, and me and my SO, Steven, live in the lovely Highlands area of Edmonton. We own the home, and have a fully fenced yard. I'm fairly active, as my own dog is, so we go for lots of walks and adventures through the river valley. I have lots of experience with dogs, I grew up with them and have fostered multiple dogs for a rescue.
I prefer to keep the dogs in my care smaller, 30 lbs or under generally speaking. If your dogs is a wee bit bigger, I am still open to a discussion.
I have a jrt cross girl, who was rescued from Calican Rescue. She absolutely loves other dogs. We still foster with Calican Rescue, I will not take dog-aggressive foster pups into care- this ensures all other dogs safetey while in my home. All dogs, including mine, are utd on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered go for annual check up at the vet.
Dogs sleep in the bedroom with us, and depending on their own routine, I am happy to crate them or have them sleep on a dog bed in the room, or on our own bed. I do try to keep their own routine as similiar as possible to help lessen the stress they undergo when coming to a new home.
We both work 8-5 Monday to Friday, and we're home on weekends. I do generally pop home on my lunch break to take the puppers for a walk (weather dependent) or at least let them outside for a bit. Our lives are very dog orientated.
A caring and loving environment provided for two aging dogs
While I'm not a professional, I have a significant amount of experience with dogs and have been fostering and puppy sitting for awhile.
I am use to dealing with allergies, behavior issues (such as seperation anxiety, leash reactivity etc), different age groups (puppy through to senior), different breed characteristics (for example, jrt energy, dachshund stubborness, beagle's scent obsession). I have lots of experience working with timid & scared dogs and over coming fears. My house only enlists the use of positive reinforcement as a training method, I refuse to use coercive training methods.
