Hi, I’m Jay. I am a responsible and reliable dog lover and dog sitter with 20+ years experience looking after many types of dogs.

My story:

For many wonderful years, spending time with my dog Monty made my life complete. Since he's been gone, I've spent a tremendous amount of time looking after other people's dogs in my Riverdale home, giving them the same attention and care as I did for Monty. I'm a self-employed consultant and work part time from home. I have worked for many years in the toy industry developing products for kids and dogs.

My experience:

I have looked after dogs of all sizes from Westies to Great Danes, sometimes in my own home, and sometimes in the dogs' homes. The dog parents who know me will vouch for me -- their dogs are always happy and tired after we spend time together. There are several dogs who are "my regulars," in Toronto, including a Ganaraskan (uncommon Canadian breed), a Lagotto Romagnolo (uncommon Italian breed), and two different Labradoodles.

My home:

I live in a semi-detached two storey house near Danforth & Pape in Toronto's east end. Your dog will have access to the entire house and yard unless you want it restricted. If your dog needs to be crated, I have two crates (large and small), so you won’t have to bring one to me. The backyard is dog-friendly and secure.
 

What to expect:

I will accommodate your dog’s feeding, playtime, walking, and sleeping schedule.

If your dog plays well with others, I am happy to take your dog to a dog park. I live very close to Withrow Park (fenced), Cherry Beach (for swimming), Monarch Park (not fenced), and the Don Valley Trails (hiking).

I know many dogs who prefer not to hang out with other dogs, and I can accommodate that too. I know several dogs who haven’t had a lot of opportunities for socialization with other dogs in the last couple of years.

A few more things to know:

Usually, I look after only one dog at a time, though I'll take care of two dogs if they are compatible.

I prefer to meet you and your dog in person before agreeing to care for your dog in my home. Under some circumstances, we can meet through video chat instead.

I love taking dogs walking, hiking, and swimming and have a dog-friendly car to get them around.
